Good evening, residents,
We’d like to share several updates on some of the projects and improvements around Beacon Hill. Thank you for your patience as this work continues. We welcome your questions and feedback in the comments below or by contacting the office directly.
Dog Park
The dog park equipment has been removed, but the dog waste bag stations, bench and lighting remain. These provide a space for residents to enjoy time outdoors with their dogs while we continue considering the best use of the area.
Lake Ava
Cleanup is underway at Lake Ava as we consider how best to use the surrounding space. Plans include replacing the chairs around the fire pit with Adirondack chairs, uplighting and repairing the fishing pier. We welcome residents’ ideas for the area.
Blue Wing Outdoors Fisheries Science is scheduled to assess the pond within the week. The assessment will look at the fish population, water quality and overall condition to help guide our next steps.
We’ll be meeting with our resident board member, Rob Fey. If you have ideas you’d like included in that discussion, please share them directly with Rob or contact the office.
Water Feature Restoration
Over the past month, our maintenance team has spent many hours removing old rock and soil, cleaning the waterfall faces, drains and pipelines, and treating the ponds. Installation of the new river rock is nearing completion.
We are now addressing the flagstone stairs and electrical work, including the stairway leading down to Emily’s Pond and continued work on the pump serving Jacob’s Pond. Phase two will include repairing and replacing the lighting.
Marina
Crews are repairing roof damage caused during the dredging project. We’ll also be making repairs to the jetty, boat-slip areas, marina walkway and both boat-launch decks.
Workers and equipment may temporarily block the golf cart path at the marina. Please use caution and do not attempt to pass through an active work area.
Back Gate Landscaping and Road Damage
The landscaping and grass damage caused by large equipment entering through the back gate in late September was documented and added to our POA site that same day as well as included in our damage report. This area will be addressed soon, along with road damage and other documented impacts from vehicles involved in the dredging project.
Wildlife Management
Rodney, our wildlife consultant, will be moving forward with the prairie dog control work in the common areas near Lots 72, 102 and the water features. Previous efforts over the years have either been paused, or interrupted, and our goal now is to give him consistent, uninterrupted time to address the problem thoroughly.
This work may continue into the late evening. For everyone’s safety and to avoid disrupting his progress, please stay clear of the active work area. We ask that you not approach Rodney, gather nearby to watch, or touch his equipment.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience as we care for and improve our community.
