Good morning Residents. There is a need to remind everyone who owns a dog (or cat) that enters the Aquatic Center that there is a strict No Pet policy posted.
Unfortunately, there have been a number of instances in which our staff had to clean it up as a courtesy to the rest of the community who use the amenity.
To assist you in understanding how serious this policy is, did you know that just one gram of dog waste can contain 23 million fecal coliform bacteria, which can contaminate our waterways and cause illness in humans? Dogs are a very significant host of bacteria that is harmful to those that enjoy using that area to play cornhole – such as barefoot young ones.
Further, the Pool Rules posted display this policy as a “state law“.
The Texas Health and Safety Code (Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 265, RULE §265.194) line (k) states, “Domestic animals and other pets must not be allowed within a pool or spa enclosure area or in the pool or spa except as required by 28 CFR §36.302(c) and, if applicable, 24 CFR §100.204. Animals permitted under 28 CFR §36.302(c) and 24 CFR §100.204 must be allowed on the deck and within the pool and spa yard, but not in the pool or spa.”
If your pet falls under those applicable permissions, please notify us. Doing so will also allow us to communicate that permission to other residents who might not be aware.
Thank you for helping us not only keep the Aquatic Center clean but also keep your neighbors and their families/guests healthy as well.
Thank you,
Beacon Hill Staff
